Course Description: 

This course will study selected passages from the book of Deuteronomy in order to understand its composition, structure, theology, and literary pre-history.

Background Expected: 

Students must have completed both semesters of Old Testament Interpretation, or its equivalent, and must have at least one and preferable two years of Biblical Hebrew.

Course Requirements: 

Diligent preparation.

Uninterrupted attendance (2 classes may be missed for any reasons; any further missed class will result in a lower course grade).

Assigned presentations (always accompanied by a handout).

A mid-term translation exam on the text covered to that point.

A 15-20 page research paper on a topic relevant to the theme of the class.

Class preparation and participation    15%
