Course Description: 

This intermediate Koine Greek course is the sequel to Elementary Greek and essential preparation for advanced Greek exegesis courses. The bulk of the course will consist of preparing and discussing translations of a wide variety of New Testament texts. There will be extensive reading and written assignments on Greek syntax and pop quizzes on Greek vocabulary and grammar review. There will also be some sight-reading of Greek texts outside the New Testament. Students will gain practice in using Greek lexica, advanced Greek grammars, and other reference works for the study of the Greek New Testament.

Course Requirements: 

Prepare translations of selected Greek texts for class recitation and discussion

Read and study Daniel Wallace, The Basics of New Testament Syntax: An Intermediate Greek Grammar

Pop quizzes on Greek vocabulary and Greek grammar

Two translation exams (open lexicon)
