Course Description: 

When Matt Malone was appointed the Editor in Chief of America magazine, he was charged with the task of changing the 106 year old publication from print only to multiple platforms, only one of which is print. This course will explore what it means to identify and maintain the essential identity and tradition of such an organization, working with stakeholders and seeking consensus, during a time of such fundamental transformation. The seminar will be specifically about the world of publishing, but also about leadership in a nationally known and widely admired Roman Catholic organization.  One Credit.

Two essays, which will be distributed to registered students:

Students are required to complete all reading before the course begins, and to commit to attending all course sessions during these two days.

Basis of Evaluation: 

In addition to full attendance and active participation, a 10 page reflection paper is due two weeks after the completion of the weekend course.
