BTFO is the orientation session for incoming students held just before the beginning of the Fall semester.
If you are an incoming student, you will automatically receive email updates for BTFO in the late spring and early summer. Updates about BTFO including deadlines and contact information for the Orientation Coordinators will be posted on this page as they become available.
There is a separate orientation on for International Students and Berkeley students. Information about these special sessions is sent directly to the students.
Childcare will be provided during all sessions, but parents will be responsible for children during meals and community events.
Spouses/partners are welcome to attend all BTFO sessions/meals/events/activities and there will not be an extra cost for them to attend.
BTFO is optional. However, you should go! It is a great time to meet other incoming students, current students, get a feel for the YDS community, and start your academic year and YDS career. Although it is optional, there are some sessions that are more important than others and that you should definitely plan to attend. We will list those sessions below. As you will notice, most information pertaining to academic life at YDS will be discussed on the Monday of BTFO. Finally, even though some sessions are more important than others, we are not going to waste your time at BTFO. All sessions are designed to help incoming students and their families have a smooth transition into the YDS community and New Haven area.
