Christopher Washnock ’14 M.A.R.
Every student at Yale Divinity School has a unique story. I am constantly reminded of just how loving, open, intelligent, and gifted each and every one of my classmates is, and for me, being a part of this diverse community of scholars and seminarians has been one of the highlights of my young life. Coming to YDS straight out of college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in public affairs, but I was not exactly sure how such a future would take shape. Examining the intersection of religion, politics, and society at Yale has inspired me to simultaneously pursue a life of service and a career of consequence; the field of religious studies, with one foot in the humanities and the other in social sciences, is a natural partner in this life calling. I hope to be able to carry the lessons of YDS into the next stage of my life, and I am deeply indebted to YDS for the ethic of humility and spirit of respect it has instilled in me. Ours is truly a community that trains leaders in service of Church and world, and as I turn my gaze towards a future in global policy, I am proud to say that I am a student at Yale Divinity School.
