As Executive Director & CEO of IPM (International Partners in Mission) since 2001, Joe provides the strategic vision, leadership, and supervision of all activities, programs and staff of this interfaith, international, non-governmental organization. Founded in 1974, IPM’s mission is to create community- based partnerships across borders of faith, culture, and economic circumstances to improve the lives of children, women, and youth, promoting justice, peace, and hope around the world. IPM’s International Headquarters are located in Cleveland, Ohio with offices in El Salvador, India, Italy, and Kenya and programs in twenty-five countries.
Joe holds degrees from the College of the Holy Cross (B.A.), Yale (MA.R.), Eden Theological Seminary (D.Min.), a certificate in Executive Education in Non Profit Management from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), and Doctoral Studies in the Social Sciences at the Gregorian University, Rome. Joe is an ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ and an active participant on a number of international and national Boards. Joe currently resides in Mount Desert, ME, with his spouse Alyne Kemunto Cistone (a Visiting Professor at the College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, ME) and is the proud father of Francesca, JJ, and Kemy.
