Spiritual Formation and The Life of Faith
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, there are many opportunities for worship, prayer and meditation, and new connections in community here. May God bless your seeking and your finding!
This Teaching and Learning Community
The faculty works to integrate academic work with the practice of faith through classes and coursework, advising, and informal conversation with students. They encourage the use of a theological vocabulary to frame issues of intellectual formation, worship, prayer, spiritual disciplines and ethics in a changing cultural context. Experienced mentors, spiritual directors and pastors are readily available for conversation, prayer and reflection to help all engage more fully in this beautiful and broken world.
The Committee for Spiritual Formation
This Committee exists to promote Yale Divinity School’s mission to foster the knowledge and love of God through the integration of academic excellence and the practice of faith among students, faculty and staff. We honor the rich diversity of cultures, faith traditions and spiritual practices represented at the School.
On our website you will find links to programs sponsored by or hosted at Yale Divinity School. You may also explore the rich and varied opportunities for worship in the greater New Haven area. Retreat centers throughout New England are included.
All YDS students have the opportunity to engage in either individual or group spiritual direction with one of the many Annand Program mentors, who represent a wide variety of denominational backgrounds (including members of religious orders). Students also participate in small groups exploring such topics as vocational discernment, contemplative prayer, and the faith practices of Christian life, as well as quiet days led by brothers of the Society of St. John the Evangelist.
