COMMENCEMENT: Parking Lot, Building Access, Shuttle, Simulcast

The large gated parking lot of the Divinity School (Parking Lot #11) will be open all day Sunday and Monday (May 19th and 20th).

Please note that in some years Commencement coincides with Memorial Day, but this year it does not.  This means that Monday, May 20th, will be a regular work day for the Divinity School. Parking in Lot #11 will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  We ask the school community to recognize the special meaning that this day holds for our graduates and their guests, while also remaining respectful of those who park in this lot on a daily basis.

The doors of the Divinity School will be open from 2pm to 8pm on Sunday, May 19th, and during regular hours on Monday, May 20th.  Yale ID cards will not be required to open the doors of the Divinity School during the hours of Commencement activities.

A Yale Parking & Transit Shuttle Bus will run continuously between 8am and 10:30am from the Divinity School to Old Campus on Monday, May 20th, to transport any individuals needing a ride downtown for the University Commencement exercises. The bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift and will have a sign that reads "Divinity School."

The pick-up point will be the front gate of the Divinity School Quadrangle on Prospect Street. The drop-off point will be Phelps Gate, the entrance to Old Campus, on College Street downtown. The shuttle is meant to run every twenty minutes, but the timing grows increasingly unpredictable as traffic grows increasingly congested downtown (i.e., the closer it gets to 10:30am). Between 11:30am and 1:30pm, the same shuttle will carry people from Phelps Gate back to the Divinity School.

A simulcast of the Old Campus University Commencement Exercises can be viewed on the large screen in Niebuhr Hall at 10:30am on Monday, May 20th. Anyone who is unable to attend the ceremony on Old Campus is welcome to view the simulcast in Niebuhr Hall.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
