Course Description: 

An intensive study of important features of ancient Israelite religion, including the origins of monotheism, the priesthood, worship, prophecy, and apocalyptic.

Background Expected: 

Two years of Biblical Hebrew and previous work in biblical interpretation.

Course Requirements: 

Preparation of the weekly readings; active participation in the seminar discussion; a final research paper on a passage or a problem related to Israelite religion.

Basis of Evaluation: 

Participation in the seminar discussion; performance on the paper.
