Course Description: 

This course introduces students to the background and development of the medieval theological tradition from the late Roman world to the Renaissance. Selected authors will be read in their theological and historical contexts. Central questions will include the nature of God, mysticism, biblical exegesis, and pastoral care. The course will also make use of visual material to explain the world in which theological ideas evolved and spread.
