Jake B. Schrum is a ‘73 M.Div. Graduate of Yale Divinity School and completed the course of study at the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.  He is married and has two grown daughters.  A lifelong Methodist, he is also ordained. His calling was to church related higher education, and this work led him to serve as President of 3 United Methodist Universities, Texas Wesleyan, Southwestern, and Emory & Henry.  Before that he was VP at Emory University.  Early in his career he was Associate Director of Development at YDS. He has been the international Chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and he currently serves as the President of The Wesley House Foundation in Cambridge, England. The author of the book, Democracy’s Last Stand, The Role of the New Urban University, he was also a leading proponent of the need for moral leadership in higher education. Jake’s connections to Yale include membership at The Yale Club for 52 years, a one-time fellow of Timothy Dwight College, a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at YDS, and membership in The Elizabethan Club. Jake, his wife, Jane, and their dog, Wallace live in mid-coast Maine.
