Peter G. Gerry

Peter G. Gerry is the Senior Managing Director, President and co-owner of Sycamore Management Corporation (“Sycamore”) headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey. Sycamore is a private equity and venture capital investment firm that has managed 9 separate co-mingled private investment funds since inception in 1995. Prior to founding Sycamore in 1995 with 2 other co-founders, Gerry was employed for 22 years at Citicorp Venture Capital, Ltd. (“CVC”). From 1983 to 1995, he served as its President and served on the Boards of Directors of both CVC and its sister company, Court Square Capital – also a wholly owned private equity investment management subsidiary of Citicorp.

Since 1973 when Gerry joined CVC, Gerry has consummated more than 130 private equity or venture capital investments. He has served on the Boards of Directors of 35 corporations, on 10 of which he was either Lead Director or Chairman of the Board. In addition, Gerry served two terms as a Governor of the National Association of Small Business Companies and for six years as a director of the New York Venture Forum where he was President from 1985 to 1987.

Gerry graduated from St. Paul’s School, Concord New Hampshire in 1964 and from Harvard College in 1968 with an AB in Economics and Fine Arts. Following graduation Gerry served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1970 aboard a destroyer on which he completed two deployments to and tours in Vietnam. Prior to joining CVC, Gerry was employed at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (1970-1971) and at T.A. Associates (summer 1972). Gerry received his MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1973 and immediately joined CVC.

Gerry currently serves as a trustee on several not-for-profit boards. He serves as trustee and President of the Lake Delaware Boys Camp in Delhi, NY, trustee and President of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation in Millstone, NJ, trustee of the Goshen Historic Track in Goshen, NY and leading trustee of St. James Church in Delhi, NY. In addition, Gerry serves as a trustee of the Princeton Ballet School and American Repertory Ballet Company in Princeton, NJ, the Emory & Henry University in Emory, VA, and the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys in Washington, DC. Previously Gerry served and retired as a director and treasurer of the Hambletonian Society, a trustee and treasurer of the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame, a trustee of the Harness Horse Youth Foundation and as a trustee and Chairman of The Rensselaerville Institute. 

Single, Gerry continues to pursue his passion for harness racing. In addition to breeding, raising and owning harness racehorses, Gerry drives regularly in harness races at The Meadowlands Racetrack, Freehold Raceway, Yonkers Raceway, Monticello Raceway and from time to time at other racing venues. It keeps him off the streets at nights and on weekends!
