Luke Kreider
Luke B. Kreider works in religious ethics and the environmental humanities, focusing on environmental and political thought in the Christian tradition. At YDS, he teaches courses spanning fields of Christian ethics, religion & ecology, environmental and climate ethics, peace studies, and political theology. His book manuscript, “Theologies of Peace and Ecologies of Violence,” puts ecological and political theologies in critical conversation about a range of connections between environmental issues and dynamics of violence. The project introduces “ecologies of violence” as problems for Christian ethics, reassessing a range of theological conceptions of peace in light of them. His publications include articles on religion and climate change, Christian ethics and ecological violence, environmental racism, and Anabaptist ethics. He holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia (2020), an MAR in Ethics from Yale Divinity School (2012), and a BA in Religion and Peace Studies from Goshen College.
