Daniel Gullotta, M.A.R. ‘17

Class of
2017
Last year, I completed my Ph.D. in American Religions at Stanford University, and I am thrilled to announce that I have recently signed a book deal with Yale University Press.

My forthcoming book, “The Christianization of American Democracy: Religious Politics in the Age of Jackson,” draws from my dissertation. It examines how Andrew Jackson and his supporters strategically used religious politics to their advantage, ultimately shaping the two-party system that remains influential in American politics today.

Currently, I am serving as the Archer Fellow in Residence at The Ashbrook Center at Ashland University. I am delighted to share that in the fall of this year, I will be joining The Declaration of Independence Center for the Study of American Freedom at the University of Mississippi as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

I am grateful for the education and support I received at Yale Divinity School, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the field of American religious history.
