John Oldmeadow YDS ‘75

Marrying Barbara Miodonski (the best thing I ever did) after we graduated from YDS we travelled to Melbourne, Australia and I went back to teaching for 5 years before working for 20 years in publishing & book selling, moving to Sydney for these roles. The final 15 years of paid employment were spent in educational administration for the Uniting Church (union of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches in Australia in 1977) as the Executive Director of the Board of Education of the NSW Synod.

In retirement I have maintained an interest in community organising, intercultural & interfaith activities with an Islamic group from a Sydney mosque (linked to Fetullah Gulen now resident in USA) and serving on the Human Ethics Research Committee at Sydney University.

After 10 years in Melbourne we spent 30 years in the suburbs of Sydney and most recently have moved to inner city living in Sydney.
