Matthew Kustenbauder DIV ’06 GRD ’08 works for the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.  As Management Analyst, he provides strategic planning for a domestic workforce of more than 3,000 civil and foreign service employees, whose mission is to serve U.S. citizens abroad and connect America to the world.  A former Fulbright Fellow to South Africa from 2013-2014, Kustenbauder earned master’s degrees in history, African studies, and Divinity at Harvard and Yale.  From 2016 to 2022 he served as a U.S. diplomat in Brazil, Pakistan, South Africa, and Afghanistan.  Matthew lives in Brazil with his husband, their son, and two Rhodesian Ridgeback hounds.
