Wesley Poling, M.Div.

Class of
1971
Denomination:
United Church of Christ

I retired fromYale 5 years ago and am enjoying retirement tremendously. In retirement, I have been given the honor of serving on the YDS Alumni Board. This has given me an opportunity to re-connect with YDS and learn about all the wonderful things that are happening there. A different place than when we were there, to be sure, but the energy, quality, and dedication to the mission educating future generations of Church leaders - in all capacities - are still fundamental hallmarks of YDS. I visited the newly reacquired and renovated Refectory and Common Room recently. How many memories those rooms hold for us, and now they are available to today's YDS. In retirement, I volunteer for New Haven Reads (a New Haven literacy program primarily for elementary school students). I also serve on the board of directors of Whitney Center, a CCRC in Hamden. Of course, the Yale Golf Course beckons when weather permits. And what would retirement be without the opportunity to spoil grandchildren whenever we can. Having been recruited to serve as the YDS Alumni Fund Agent for the Class of 1971, I look forward to reconnecting with many of you and (I hope) also reconnecting you to YDS. Having recently done so, I can attest that it is well worth your time and effort.
