Biography

I am Sr. An-Hoa Nguyen, a perpetually professed Roman Catholic member of the Congregation of the Lovers of the Holy Cross, the first Vietnamese women’s religious order (established in 1671). I have a Ph.D. in Theology and Education from Boston College and an M.A. in Religion from Yale University, where I also earned certifications in Educational Leadership and Roman Catholic Lay Ministries. I am currently a Lecturer in Pastoral Care at Yale Divinity School, supported by a two-year Louisville Postdoctoral Fellowship. My research focuses on pastoral care, spirituality, and ministry with migrant families. I aim to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, critiquing dominant Western and Eurocentric discourses in theology and ministerial formation. Specifically, I explore how religious education can foster family ministry, pastoral care, and spiritual intelligence. Beyond my academic work, I am a certified spiritual director committed to the formation of identity and faith. My scholarly project seeks to refine pedagogical methodologies that empower immigrant families and strengthen the vital roles of women in ministry and society.
