Virtual Open House for Prospective Students

You are invited to a virtual day of theological exploration and discernment at Yale University Divinity School’s Virtual Open House for prospective students!  We are designing an experience that will include both asynchronous and synchronous components to learn more about Yale Divinity School, including but not limited to academic, ministerial and other leadership education and opportunities offered in this vibrant Yale community!

Theological schools have long been synonymous with professional clergy preparation and formation for churches. BUT, did you know that not everyone pursues this type of career? Though divinity schools uniquely prepare individuals to work in churches and other faith-based communities, theological education also prepares individuals for careers and vocations beyond those walls. Some graduates become theology or religion professors, teachers, chaplains, administrators in higher education, ethicists, writers, historians, activists or pursue doctoral studies, while others apply their theological education to careers in business, medicine, law, community development, or other nonprofit settings. Come to our Virtual Open House and hear how theological education can open these doors.

Yale University Divinity School is a graduate theological school within a world-class research university and is both a rigorous academic institution and an ecumenical community of faith. Embodying the strengths of both a graduate program in religion and a divinity school, YDS offers students unique opportunities for serious academic inquiry and preparation for leadership in church and world. Three robust partners on the quad enrich students’ experiences and provide opportunities for growth and development: Andover Newton Seminary, specializing in ministry formation for congregational faith traditions; Berkeley Divinity School, an Episcopal Seminary training lay and ordained leaders for the Episcopal Church and the wider Anglican Communion and the Institute of Sacred Music, a premier center for the interdisciplinary study of sacred music, worship, and the related arts.
