Black students have been a part of the Yale Divinity School community since the early 19th century, the Yale Black Seminarians organization was formed and formally recognized in 1969. In honor of 50+ years of Black student activism at Yale Divinity School and beyond, the Yale Black Seminarians will be hosting a 1-Day conference to celebrate this momentous occasion! This conference will be kicked-off on Thursday, April 2 with a pre-conference service at the Immanuel Baptist Church in New Haven at 6:30pm (1324 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511). The official conference will start on Friday morning and events will be held through out the day. These events include lectures given by notable alumni/ae, a Chapel service with a sermon and eucharist celebrated by two Yale alums, and the day will end with a closing reception honoring the initial members of the organization and our invited lecturers. With all of these events, the conference is sure to not only be a celebration but also a fruitful exchange between current Black Yale students and those who came before.
