The YDS community is invited to a Yale Classics & Divinity School Lecture by Ilaria L.E. Ramelli on Thursday, March 27. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Niebuhr Hall.

Dr. Ramelli’s lecture is titled “Social Justice and Slavery in Antiquity and Patristics and the Principle that Excessive Wealth is Tantamount to Theft.”

Professor Ilaria Ramelli holds an academic appointment at the Angelicum in Rome and has served on visiting, honorary, and affiliate appointments at Harvard, Boston University, Columbia, Erfurt, Durham, Oxford, Cambridge, and Stanford. Specializing in ancient, late antique, and early medieval philosophy and theology, she has published more than a dozen books, including Social Justice and the Legitimacy of Slavery: The Role of Philosophical Asceticism from Ancient Judaism to Late Antiquity (Oxford 2017), and over 100 articles. Ramelli is currently the Director of the Cambridge History of Patristic Philosophy.
