We’ve got to get it out,” urged Phyllis J. ‘PJ’ Leopold  M.Div ‘85 as she accepted the 2013 Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Ridgefield Community Service Award, ”President Obama said nothing is going to change unless Americans demand it. Dr. King would never, ever miss an invitation like that.” Leopold is a Methodist minister and was honored by her community for her leadership of Association of Religious Communities, an interfaith organization offering programs in domestic violence prevention, emergency aid network, homelessness and housing, and refugee resettlement. South Korean peace activist and former World Council of Churches staff member Oh Jae Shik ‘66 M.A.R. passed away on January 3. Former YDS professor of pastoral theology and director of development Albert “Ed” Couch passed away on January 19. Besides his academic and administrative work at YDS, Couch also served as a Presbyterian minister in churches in Ohio, New York and California and as a UCC minister in Middlebury, CT.
