Leading a church for Black lives: Interview with Gabby Cudjoe Wilkes and Andrew Wilkes

In the new episode of the YDS “Quadcast,” the Rev. Gabby Cudjoe Wilkes ‘18 M.Div. and her husband, the Rev. Andrew Wilkes, discuss their leadership of a church and ministry committed to Black lives. Co-pastors of the Double Love Experience Church in New York City, the pair delve into the theological roots of their commitment to justice, their efforts to engage young people in their church, and their book Psalms for Black Lives.

Gabby Cudjoe Wilkes is a leading advocate for women in ministry and an ordained minister whose work is situated at the intersection of faith and culture. A Yale Divinity School graduate, she is Director of the Technology & Innovation Digital Engagement Lab Fellowship at Union Theological Seminary and Vice President of the YDS Alumni/ae Board. 
 
In addition to co-leading Double Love Church, Andrew Wilkes works with the Civics Education Organization, Generation Citizen as their Senior Policy & Advocacy Director. A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at City University of New York. 
 
The YDS “Quadcast” series is hosted by Emily Judd ’19 M.A.R., who is Senior Communications Specialist at the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, an international humanitarian organization supported by Pope Francis, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and the leadership of the United Arab Emirates. She previously worked as a journalist in the Middle East.
