In the latest episode of the YDS “Quadcast,” distinguished Palestinian theologian Mitri Raheb discusses his scholarship on Christianity in the Holy Land and debunks Western narratives about the region’s Christians being helpless victims of persecution.
Raheb also explores historically positive relations between Muslims and Christians in the Middle East, what makes Palestinian Christian theology distinct, and Christians in the Holy Land promoting a just peace in the face of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb is President of Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, Palestine, and author of the book The Politics of Persecution: Middle Eastern Christians in an Age of Empire. He lectured at YDS in 2014.
The YDS podcast series is hosted by Emily Judd ‘19 M.A.R., who is senior communications specialist at the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity, an international humanitarian organization supported by Pope Francis, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and the leadership of the United Arab Emirates. She previously worked as a journalist in the Middle East.
