YDS students present research at Oxford-Yale conference on ‘Ethical Reading: Exemplarity’

Three YDS students traveled to Oxford with Michal Beth Dinkler, Associate Professor of New Testament, earlier this semester to present their research at an Oxford-Yale Graduate Conference on “Ethical Reading: Exemplarity.”

The students and their topics were:

  • Eckhart Chan ’19 M.A.R., “Monica’s Exemplarity: Exploring the Rhetorical Unity of Confessions”
  • Mary Davis ’21 M.Div., “Handmaids of the Lord”
  • Gary Wallin ’19 M.A.R., “Patterned After Paul: Exemplarity and Textual Reflexivity in 2 Timothy 1:13”

The conference explored ideas of exemplarity in ancient Christianity and in Greco-Roman and Jewish antiquities, concluding with a roundtable discussion with graduate students and faculty led by Professor Dinkler.
