Biography
Clifton Granby is a scholar of African American religious, political, and philosophical thought. His research and teaching reflect an interdisciplinary approach to the study of race and religion, ethics, social epistemology, and theories of freedom, power, and ignorance. He has been especially influenced by the works of W.E.B. Du Bois, James Baldwin, and Howard Thurman. Professor Granby is completing two books: Epistemic Deference and the Politics of Racial Listening and Truth in Love: Howard Thurman and the Ethics of Social Criticism.
