Nancy S. Taylor ’81 M.Div.

Nancy S. Taylor served for 17 years as the 20th Senior Minister and Chief Executive Officer of historic Old South Church in Boston. The dual nature of this role reflects Old South’s identity as both a thriving urban church and an historic leadership institution in Boston.

Beyond the doors of Old South Church, she is a recognized preacher and speaker, teacher, and workshop leader. In addition to YDS, she studied at Macalester College (B.A.) and Chicago Theological Seminary (D. Min.). Before her call to Old South Church, she served as Minister and President of the Massachusetts Conference of the UCC (2001-2005). She retired from Old South Church in 2022.

In 2022, Taylor became one of the two campaign co-chairs of the Yale Divinity School’s “We Are Called” campaign, which is aimed at strengthening support for students, academic programs, justice work, and construction of the first major living-building student residence hall in the college and university sector.

In 2009, she was the recipient of the Yale Divinity School Distinction in Congregational Ministry Award.
