Haley Gabrielle ’18 M.A.R.

My name is Haley Gabrielle, and I am graduating with a Master of Arts in Religion, concentrated in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

Before coming to YDS, I was studying at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. I graduated from Kenyon in May 2016 with a major in Classics (Latin and Greek) and a minor in Religious Studies.

My most transformative experiences at YDS took place in my coursework. Queer Theology with Linn Tonstad in my first semester was the most challenging class I took here, and it pushed me to think about theology and biblical studies in radically new ways. In my third semester, when I audited Race and the New Testament with JanJan Lin, I often felt that I was getting to be involved in some of the most important conversations happening on campus. I am very thankful to have had the chance to learn from—and be inspired by—so many brilliant professors at YDS.

I am excited to be starting a Ph.D. program in New Testament at Emory University in the fall.
