Robert Paulen ‘67 B.D.

Rev. Bob Paulen served as an Elder in the Baltimore-Washington Conference in the United Methodist Church for 37 years. During his ministry, he led his churches in social justice, community empowerment, and interfaith work. After retiring, he returned to one of his lifelong passions: track and field. In 2022, he was selected by the USA Track and Field Committee as the outstanding athlete in the men’s 85-89 age group. He set three national records (hurdles), and at the national indoor and outdoor championships and he won a total of 11 events (hurdles, high jump, triple jump, long jump, and pentathlon). He was chosen to represent the United States in the World Masters Athletic competition in Poland in March 2023.

In 2013, he established the Rev. Bob Paulen Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually with preference for deserving students studying in the Middle East or for Middle Eastern students attending Yale Divinity School.
