Robert Wilson ’67 B.D. ’72 Ph.D.

For over four decades, Dr. Robert Wilson, served on the Yale Divinity School and in the Department of Religious Studies faculty. Hoober Professor of Religious Studies and Professor of Old Testament, Emeritus, Wilson researched and taught on such subjects as Israelite prophecy, Deuteronomistic history, and ancient Israelite religion in its social and cultural context. He has been active in leadership in the Society of Biblical Literature and served two stints as chair of Yale’s Department of Religious Studies.
 
Wilson is the author of Genealogy and History in the Biblical World, Prophecy and Society in Ancient Israel, and Sociological Approaches to the Old Testament. He is co-editor of Canon, Theology, and Old Testament Interpretation. 
 
In 2021, Dr. Wilson was honored with the Distinction in Theological Education Award from Yale Divinity School.
