Update: Convocation and Reunion 2020
Drawing hundreds of our alumni/ae and friends to the Quad, Convocation and Reunions is one of the highlights of the year. But with the Covid-19 pandemic giving rise to myriad safety concerns and other issues, YDS has made the difficult but prudent decision to host Convocation virtually this fall, and to postpone the 2020 reunion gatherings until 2021.
Virtual Convocation will be expanded to three weeks, October 12-30, and include a rich mix of lectures, alumni and student panels, worship, and other events–hosted by YDS, Andover Newton Seminary, and Berkeley Divinity School. A full schedule and other details will be posted later this summer on this website.
The joy and camaraderie of in-person gatherings cannot be experienced online, of course. Rather than try to create the reunion experience virtually, we will expand the clusters of classes that gather in the fall of 2021 to include both the 2020 and 2021 cohorts. The 2020 annual alumni awards program will also be postponed until 2021.
We know these decisions will disappoint many in our community. But we make them in the hope of caring for the safety and well-being of all. Stay tuned to this website, email invitations, and YDS social media channels for updates on activities. We hope you will make plans to join us from your home this fall for the spiritual and educational enrichment we will offer.
