William “Bill” Wilson Mount, Jr., (88), of Spartanburg, SC died January 15th, 2024, at his home in Spartanburg, SC. Born January 21st, 1935, in Memphis, TN, he was the son of late William Wilson and Floy Kathryn Humphrey Mount.
A graduate of Northwestern University (B.A.), Middlebury College (M.A.), and Yale University (B.D., M.A., PhD), he was an ordained United Methodist minister and Albert C. Outler Professor of Religion Emeritus at Wofford College.
Surviving are two sons: William Wilson Mount, III of Atlanta and Joseph McCrary Mount (Theresa) of Charlotte; and three grandchildren: Colin William and Peyton Ansley Mount of Charlotte, and William Wilson Mount IV of Atlanta.
He was blessed by the love of a lady who was the love of his life.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church, 233 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC.
A Celebration of the Life of Bill Mount will be held after services at the home of Ms. Rose Mary Ritchie at 102 Montgomery Circle.
