Rev. Arthur E. Jehle ANS ‘49 B.D.

Date of death:
Monday, August 9, 2021
Arthur Eugene Jehle, age 98, peacefully passed to his eternal reward on August 9, 2021 at his home in Citra, Florida.  Art is pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Effie, his first wife Ruth (Burgess), to whom he had been married for 45 years, his brother John and his sister Ruth.  He is survived by his second wife, Sara (Skillman), to whom he was married for 28 years, and his three children Jinnie, Paul and David, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.

Art, a Mayflower pilgrim descendant from 1620, and his first wife Ruth, a Puritan descendant of the migration in 1630, raised their three children to honor faith in God and a love for America’s liberty and unique form of government.  All were subsequently converted to Christ and his three children raised their own children with similar values.

Art served in the U.S. Navy as an engineer during World War II.  He was part of one of the first quartets performing in Washington, D.C. and could remember and sing all the songs of the War at his 98th birthday recently celebrated in Citra.  He then attended Andover-Newton Theological Seminary, serving Congregational Churches in Massachusetts and New Jersey for nearly two decades.

Art taught drafting, mechanical drawing and woodworking at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.  He then moved to the Miami Revival Center at Citra serving as an elder and eventually becoming a traveling minister throughout the United States, Alaska, Canada and parts of Central and South America.

Art continued ministering through his 92nd year, and then remained at his home and church – the Miami Revival Center at Citra, until the time of his passing.  Art was known as a compassionate and caring pastor, a dynamic song leader, and a great counselor who was willing to listen and minister to a wide variety of people from all backgrounds and races.  In addition to the spiritual legacy of his life in Christ, he also leaves to his family and thousands of parishioners and believers from around the world the character traits of honesty, integrity and excellence as described in the Holy Scriptures.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Miami Revival Center at Citra on Tuesday night, August 10 at 7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, gifts can be given to Miami Revival Center at Citra, Florida or Bowens Mill Christian Community Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
