2017-2018 has been a momentous time for me. Last Thanksgiving, I made the decision to retire at the end of 2017. For the last four years, my wife, Charlotte, and I had been renting a small apartment in my hometown of Salisbury, NC, a block from my 95-year old father. I was fortunate to have a job that allowed me to work remotely, but I was looking forward to getting down every six weeks starting in 2018 without trying to juggle work responsibilities during our visits. Sadly, my dad passed away on February 7th. He touched so many people and was loved by all. I will miss him more than I can say, but I am grateful for the lessons he taught me about faith and justice and kindness.
