Burke Long, BDiv ‘64 MA ‘66 PHD ‘67 Religious Studies (Yale)

Class of
1964

Since retiring as the Kenan Professor of Religion and Humanities at Bowdoin College in 2002, I have pursued vocal arts, performing with Vox Nova Chamber Choir, a semi-professional Chamber Choir, from 2005-2018, and now with Una Voce Chamber Choir. Both groups specialize in contemporary, mostly a capella, music.

I also studied photography at the Maine College of Art, and since 2010 have exhibited my work, which of late favors abstract digital art, in several venues and galleries. For a peek, go to: https://www.facebook.com/BurkeLong.Photographs. My wife, Judith (Holstein) Long (YDS '60) is a fine art print maker and we have collaborated on several exhibitions. The next such occasion will be in 2019 with Circling the Square Fine Art Press in Gardiner., Maine.

Weekly, I get a grandfather fix by reading (really, dramatizing) picture books to 3-5 year olds at Family Focus, a local pre-school program.
