Appointed by NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio to serve as Acting Chair of the Civilian Complaint Review Board, the nation’s largest civilian oversight agency of the nation’s largest police department. The agency has 185 full time staff and a Board comprised of 13 members, all civilian, and all appointed by the Mayor. The City Council designates five of the members, the Police Commissioner designates 3 (all retired police officers) and the Mayor designates five members, one of whom is the Chairperson. There are 36,000 New York City police officers.
