John Lombard, M.Div.

Class of
1976

John Lombard reports that after 40+some years serving three UCC churches in New England, he has retired to Stow, MA. At present he is a part-time Annuitant Visitor for the UCC Pension Boards, connecting with some 65 retired UCC clergy, missionaries, spouses, etc. in the greater Boston area. He is involved with a countless number of other volunteer activities as well through his involvement with the Concord, MA Rotary, while he still does an occasional wedding or funeral, or filling in at a local church. John officiated last summer at his daughter’s wedding at the same church where he and Janet were married 42 years ago, and where he was baptized, confirmed, and ordained. He and Janet also have two grandchildren in the DC/VA area whom they absolutely adore.  This summer they are taking a three-week cruise from Budapest and Amsterdam, spending a week on the Cape (they exchange vacation homes with Ken Landall and his wife), and hopefully will be in England in late September. The Lombards will also be at a conference in Montgomery, AL this fall and expect to tour the sites related to the Civil Rights Struggle in the South. All you local Southern YDSers, catch up with them then!!!!

I was touched that John added so many warm, loving thoughts for us all: “Paige, as a part of the YDS Diaspora, it is always good to get word from you that the ‘76ers are still trudging toward the Promised Land!…….. We [Janet and I] are blessed in so many ways and are grateful to God and good friends who touch, bless, and enrich our lives immeasurably. May the collective life of the YDS Class of ’76 continue to speak prophetically and embody courageously and compassionately the Good News in a world and time desperately in need of the same.”
