I thrive in my second career as professor at Southern Virginia University, where I channel my inner Sydney Ahlstrom and Harry Stout by teaching American and religious history. My study of the religious life of Robert E. Lee came out a year ago (just in time for controversies), and a history of the chapel he built at Washington and Lee University appears in April. Melissa and I live in Lexington but often visit our ever-increasing family in Richmond, counting our blessings all the way.
