I've been retired from parish ministry now for five years, but my chief retirement gig has been teaching church history for Fuller Seminary. I've also just published a book: "Changing World, Changeless Christ: The American Lutheran Publicity Bureau, 1914-2014." Sounds like a real page-turner, I know; but actually, if you're Lutheran, or if you're a church history geek, you'd probably find it pretty interesting. It's the history of the group that publishes Lutheran Forum; and really, it's the history of American Lutheranism in the 20th and early 21st centuries, viewed through the lens of one of the primary representatives of the evangelical catholic party in the Lutheran church. The teaching, the book, filling in now and again at our congregation (Episcopal), and then four grandchildren, located in Texas and New York--all makes for a busy life. My wife Lois retired 18 months ago, so we've done some traveling as well--Israel and Scandinavia this past year, as well as, well, Texas and New York.
