Thomas Lloyd, MAR

Thomas Lloyd was invested by Bishop Daniel Gutierrez as Canon for Music and the Arts at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral on January 5, 2019. He has served as Director of Music at the Cathedral since 2010, where he has developed innovative ways of engaging a non-vested, professional-core choir in a flexible open-space sanctuary without compromising the quality of anthem repertoire. As a composer, he has written a broad range of liturgical music and choral anthems, as well as two commissions of full-length choral-theater works for Donald Nally and The Crossing ("Bonhoeffer" (Grammy-nominated in 2017) and "In the Light" (to be premiered in 2020). He recently added the fine arts program at the Cathedral to his responsibilities, curating an exhibition, "Themes and Variations" by ten professional artist members of the congregation; the exhibition was featured in the November 25, 2018 issue of "The Episcopal Journal." www.thomaslloydmusic.com
