Stated Supply

Description

This position is to provide pastoral services as Stated Supply to the First Presbyterian Church of Haverhill for a period of 12 months on a part-time basis minimum of 7.5 hours per week with possibility of up to18 hours/week dependent upon availability and affordability. We are open to a semi-retired or bi-vocational pastor. We are also open to a yoked or shared ministry relationship with another congregation.

Our church

The First Presbyterian Church of Haverhill was established in 1898. Our church has been transitioning from being a community church to one serving the greater Haverhill area. We are passionate about growing in our faith and a meaningful Sunday service is very important to us. We are also passionate about caring for one another in our congregation and about active participation in local mission.

Our vision of the future includes a pastor who, through inspirational worship and the interpretation of scripture, will motivate our members into more active roles in the church and community. We also need a pastor who is goal oriented and a team player with creative solutions to help our membership to grow. With the creation of our online presence, we also need to discern how to keep all united.

Responsibilities:

The Pastor will be responsible to:

● lead worship (and Communion), organize bulletin, and preach at regular Sunday, and some seasonal services. Pray for the church.

● moderate the Session and congregational meetings (if approved by Presbytery of Northern New England Commission on Ministry) and serve as head of staff.

● be available for office visits/consultations on an as-needed basis

● call on the hospitalized and homebound (supporting Deacons when necessary.)

● officiate at funerals, baptisms, and weddings of members (non-member weddings negotiable, if need arises)

● Assist Session and PNNE COM as they craft a vision for the church’s future ministry

Compensation and Benefits:

For 7.5 hours a week, our minimum terms of call (grand total of salary, housing allowance, benefits) is $13,412 or $1,118 per month; paid vacation, travel expenses, continuing education reimbursement - negotiable
