Brief Position Description

This is a solo pastoral role for a community church in the heart of the beautiful Annapolis Valley. We are located 10 minutes from Acadia University, and an hour from our capital city, Halifax, and the Stanfield international airport.

Important values that guide our life together as a congregation include open membership, inclusion, community involvement, ecumenical co-operation, involvement of children and youth, and study and growth in personal discipleship. Worship has always been our central activity. We value both traditional worship and creative expression.

Roles and Responsibilities

Among these are preparing for and conducting worship services, providing pastoral care and counselling, giving guidance to lay leaders, working with youth leaders and the Christian Education Committee to support the implementation of programs for youth, families, and individuals, and helping the church create a strategic plan to carry out its local and international ministry.

Qualification and Educational Requirements

Ordained and accredited by a recognized Baptist body, such as the Canadian Association for Baptist Freedoms, the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, or an acceptable equivalent crediting body. Candidates from other denominations may be considered with the understanding that they would affirm historic Baptist principles.

Preferred Values and Abilities

A person who is open, inviting, inclusive, and who encourages church members to be involved in the ministry of the church. Someone who prizes community and works to create it within the church and local area. A recognized ministerial degree. A combination of relevant education and experience would also be considered.

Candidates are asked to provide a detailed resume as well as a cover letter in which they describe how their spiritual journey, education, and relevant pastoral or other experiences make them a candidate for this position. Candidates who are shortlisted may be required to provide references.

Salary Range: between $75,000 and $65,000, depending on experience. Plus benefits.
