Pastor (University Church)
Union University Church, located in Alfred, NY, is seeking to fill the position of full-time Pastor. We are seeking a Pastor who will provide spiritual, pastoral, outreach, administrative and servant leadership. This person may not have all the answers to life’s theological, philosophical, and moral questions, but will know the important questions to ask. The Pastor relates to the multiple generations that form the small rural and theologically diverse congregation. This individual has high character and integrity, is equipped to help lead in ministry, Christian education, community outreach, and pastoral care programs that embrace shared values of faith, freedom, and fellowship.
We are 90 miles southeast of Buffalo, 80 miles south of Rochester, in the heart of the Southern Tier. Alfred is known as a college town. There are two institutions of higher education: Alfred State College and Alfred University, which includes The New York State College of Ceramics, with a student population of approximately 5,185. The village of Alfred has a population of about 3,990. Union University Church is a multi-denominational and congregationally governed community church, with an average weekly attendance of 40-50. Membership is approximately 75 and the church was founded over 100 years ago. Even though our population is small, and because of our unique multi-denominational nature, our congregation comes from many of the surrounding towns, including Wellsville, Almond, Hornell, Arkport, Canaseraga and Andover.

We offer a competitive salary and benefit package, commensurate with level of experience, negotiable. Minimum salary is in the $50,000- $60,000 range. The benefits package includes four weeks paid vacation, disability coverage, reimbursement of milage expenses, housing allotment, Flex Account for medical expenses, and sabbatical after five years.
