Emmanuel Friedens Church is a federation of an ABC and a UCC church in Schenectady, NY (the Capital District of upstate New York). It is an active mission-oriented church devoted to both the local and the global community. They are seeking their next Senior Pastor (full time, with benefits).
It is a Welcoming and Affirming congregation that welcomes and values everyone. It is located in the exciting and continually improving downtown of Schenectady. It is known for its deep commitment to charity and community involvement. It is active in promoting peace and justice.
The two churches federated in 1997 and relate to and support the mission efforts of both denominations. They are currently talking about becoming a united church. The church provides a free monthly meal to the community and a clothing closet. In addition to budgeted ministries they support, they participate in annual CROP and AIDS walks. Members volunteer at the Damien Center for people living with AIDS. Their youth meet weekly with a community youth group. They believe in the uniqueness of the individual as a God-given gift, so while they provide an interactive program for growth and development, they do not require conformity. They believe that there is richness in diversity and that they can accomplish more as a diverse group than as individuals and so they joined together.
